Reviewing the Top 5 Vision Board Apps for iPhone and Android in 2022

Many people have asked about creating vision boards on their phones. I decided to download and review 5 different top recommended vision board apps to find which was the best.

Dreamer App is the best app to create a vision board on your phone for free. This is the only app that allows you to select from a variety of images and has built-in templates to organize your images onto a beautiful grid that will fit on a phone lock screen. You can create your vision board in just 10 minutes using the free trial.

I rated each app based on three categories:

  1. Pricing: How much does it cost?

  2. Ease of Use: How easy is it to use? I will use “Easy” for apps that have a built-in image library, built-in affirmations and intuitive user experience. I will label apps that have two of these “Medium” and apps that have one or none of these as “Hard”.

  3. Final Vision Board Type: I expected to have a collage of goal images that I could save to my phone as a screensaver or lock screen, but I realized the visual creations varied wildly by app.

In this article, I’ll discuss each of the vision board phone apps I used and what the best features are in each app.

Vision Board App Review: A Summary

App Name Price Ease of Use Final VB Type
Why Vision Board $19.99/year Hard Long page of images and notifications
Dreamer $13.99/year Easy Phone-sized Image
Vision Board $29.99/year Hard Phone-sized Image
VisuApp Free with Paid Upgrades Hard Image and Notifications
Perfectly Happy $58.99/year Easy Video

Why Vision Board App

This vision board app is fairly easy to use, but it doesn’t have a picture library so you have to either upload the images you’ve taken or you’ll have to head over to Google before opening the app to download a few images of the goals you plan on visualizing with your vision board.

The majority of the time spent in creating the vision board with the Why app was finding images I liked. When I asked my readers what’s the most difficult thing about creating a digital vision board, one common response was finding images.

I created this video to help readers find high quality images for their vision board using Google, Pinterest, Instagram and Stock photo sites.

I added in 12 images from google into the app and then was prompted to add in affirmations. There was no pre-loaded affirmation library so I had to create my own.

The final vision board was a full page with the selected photos and affirmations. The page was very long and would not fit onto my phone screen. Instead, the app recommends that you set up your phone to send a daily notification of your vision.

Personally, I like to work without my phone next to me and my phone is usually on focus mode so I can be present both at work and when spending time with family. I prefer not to receive notifications throughout the day so this isn’t a benefit in my opinion.

Here’s a video showing the process of creating your phone vision board using this app, start to finish:

Quick Summary of Why Vision Board App

Price: $19.99/year

Free Trial: 3 days

Pros: easy to use, allows you to add your own images and affirmations, simple user-friendly design

Cons: does not have in-app image library or in-app affirmations to choose from, doesn’t allow you to see your board on one page, doesn’t save your vision board to your phone screen

Time to create vision board: 25 mins+ (This will vary based on whether you’re finding images from Google or if you have images already.)

Dreamer App

As I mentioned before, the Dreamer app is the best app for phone vision boards - especially if you plan on saving your vision board as your phone background image.

You can choose the layout that you want your images to appear in and it also has an image library that you can choose images from, which dramatically cuts down on the time it takes you to create your vison board in the first place.

With the free trial you’ll also be able to access all the premium features and there are no upgrades that you’ll have to pay for. Since this app allows you to save your final vision board image to your phone and set it as the phone screen, you can use the free trial to create your vision board and save the final image to your photos to use an a screensaver or lock screen!

Here’s the vision board I ended up creating and saving to my lock screen:

Quick Summary of Dreamer App

Price: 13.99/year

Free Trial: 3 days

Pros: built-in images, easy to use, easy to save vision board as image and use as wall paper, built-in affirmations, create multiple vision boards, create your vision board action items as a to-do list

Cons: limited number of images per vision board, vision board options may not have the image sizing you want

Time to create vision board: 10 mins

It’s worth mentioning that I didn’t plan on using any of the vision board images I created while reviewing these apps, but I love the simplicity and ease of the Dreamer vision board so much that I kept this as my phone background. It’s still my phone background a month later.

Vision Board App

This app disappointed me the most - especially for the hefty price tag. There’s no image library or affirmations to choose from and the final result isn’t aesthetically pleasing.

The app prompts you to choose your own images that align with 9 predetermined life areas. Some may like this because they can use the areas provided as a guide. On the other hand, the predetermined areas could also hinder your creativity in goal setting.

With each image you can add a caption and a deadline for the goal to be accomplished.

Here’s the final resulting vision board I created.

You can see the vision board background is a bright pink and the images aren’t resized to be aesthetically pleasing in any way. It’s possible to change the color, but you have to watch a 30-second video to see the other color options. After watching the ad I realized all the alternatives were similar bright eye-burning colors.

Quick Summary of Vision Board App

Price: 29.99 for annual subscription (2.99 for weekly and 5.99 for monthly subscriptions)

Free Trial: Unlimited with ads to access premium features

Pros: simple interface, guide when you first open program

Cons: not visually appealing, no image library or affirmations you are prompted to fill in 9 specific fields, watch a video ad for 30 seconds for premium features

Time to create vision board: 10 mins

Visuapp

The VisuApp allows you to create your vision board and get notifications daily. I like that you can set the days and times for your affirmations to notify you.

For each goal you will select an image, write an affirmation and select a “cover” image. There are four images pre-loaded, but no image library so you’ll have to load your own images before creating your vision board with this app.

Even after working with the app, I’m not sure what the point of the cover images was.

You get unlimited access to these features to create a basic vision board and they also have a few premium features such as creating a slideshow, writing a gratitude journal or getting “Feng Shui” on you vision board.

At the end of the process, you can not save the vision board you’ve created as an image through the app. I was able to screenshot an image and crop it, but the final result didn’t fit on my phone screen. The app was primarily designed to send you notifications with your goals on the days and times you choose, not as your home screen.

I didn’t find much use in creating my vision board on this app because my preference is not to receive phone notifications.

Here’s a video on how to create your vision board using VisuApp:

Quick Summary of VisuApp

Price: Freemium - Unlimited ads version, Pay for Upgrades

Free Trial: Unlimited

Pros: easy to load your own images and write an affirmation with each image

Cons: not visually appealing, final image doesn’t fit to phone screen easily, no in-app images or affirmation library.

Time to create vision board: 15 mins

Vision Board Perfectly Happy

Surprisingly, with this app the end result is not a vision board, but a vision video. You will select your images, then an affirmation for each image to create a slideshow video and then select music to go with it from the music library.

This app has the best photo library - with a high number of photos in the collection with lots of diversity across the images and a clean, intuitive organizational system that makes it easy to find photos. You’ll also get to choose from the vast selection of affirmations.

Next, you get to pick your music for your vision board from their preloaded audio selection.

Then your vision board video is complete! This is the only app I’ve seen that uses your images and affirmations to create a video.

Unfortunately, you cannot simply share your video to any other site like Facebook or download it to your phone. Even if you try to download the final video to your phone, you’ll only receive a link to download the app to view it.

Here’s a video walk through of the app:

Quick Summary of VisuApp

Price: $58.99/year

Free Trial: Free for 7 Days

Pros: large library of videos categorized by life areas (ex. health, wealth, family, etc.), beautiful user interface, easy to use, selection of affirmations to choose from

Cons: Doesn’t create an actual vision board, video is not downloadable

Time to create vision board: 15 mins

The app recommends that you view your video twice per day. The recommended number of images is 10. I added 12 images to my video which added up to 3 minute video!

Personally, there’s no way I would remember to look at a video twice a day, especially since I don’t like to make loud noises early in the morning when the rest of my family is sleeping or in the afternoon when I’m focused on work.

I much rather to view my vision board passively on the screen background so I don’t recommend this app unless video sounds exciting to you.

Wondering if a video vision board is right for you?

Here’s my finished vision board video created with the Perfectly Happy app:

The best value by far is the Dreamer App, where you’re able to create a beautiful vision board image that you can save to your phone screensaver and lock screen and view anytime. The image has a modern, clean and minimalist look to it so you can view anytime and keep with you as a simple reminder of your goals.

3 Burning Questions for Potential Vision Board Party Hosts

How To Stop Working Towards Someone Elses Dream.png

Starting a business or side hustle can be the greatest thing you ever do.

But I’ve seen first-hand how success can depend on the ‘WHY’ behind what you do.

When anyone comes to me wanting to start a vision board party business, I start by asking the BIG question.

‘Is your ‘WHY’ based on desire or desperation?’

If you have vision boards in your soul, a burning desire to help others, or to share your story with the world, then go preach, my friend.

But if you’re trying to get out of the situation you’re in, desperate for a lifesaver, and in full-on ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ mode, we need to have a serious conversation.

I’ve got three questions that will help you decide whether the vision board life is for you.

But first, here’s how I had my lightbulb moment.

When your ‘why’ is out of whack

When I hit rock bottom, I was so broke I couldn’t afford to feed myself, let alone my daughter.

She ate the leftovers from my work lunch meetings, and I would eat pretzels taken from the lobby of the office.

With bills up to eyeball and maxed out credit cards, I was sliding into a depression.

When you’re sitting in the darkness of rock bottom, you look for any speck of light and cling onto it for dear life.

If you’re a determined person, you don’t just go down, you go down SWINGING.

I REFUSED to give up on trying.

From starting an MLM business and a Mom Blog to selling arts and crafts boxes and setting up an Etsy shop to sell cards, I tried it ALL.

“If one of these things goes well, maybe we’ll be ok…”

Thinking I was driving myself forwards, I was actually digging myself further into debt by investing money I didn’t have in businesses that never took off.

Cue lightbulb moment sat at rock bottom eating pretzels!

My ‘WHY’ was all out of whack.

The reason I kept starting business after business was because I was desperate for financial stability. I wanted to eat without wondering whether I could afford to.

My ‘WHY’ was as desperate as they come.

Ever tossed a bunch of spaghetti at the wall to see if one sticks?

I threw the whole pan at the wall, and I don’t want that for you!

So I got rid of everything I had, focused on solving the reasons behind my desperate ‘why’, and THEN I started a business based on desire and passion.

Follow your passion rather than problem fixing

If you’ve never looked at your ‘WHY’, it’s time to sit down and get serious.

Are you passionate about vision boards and helping people, or whatever drives the business you’re looking to set up?

Or did you see someone doing it on social media claiming to have invested 10k and made a 6-figure income in a month, and you see this as a quick fix for your money troubles?

While these stories are sexy, what usually happens is you end up 10k more in debt.

What’s driving your ‘WHY’ is key before you even get your credit card out or set up your Instagram handle.

“I want to fix my finances, save my marriage, distract myself from the pain I feel in my soul….”

… my friend, vision board workshops are not your Ministry right now!

Figure out your stuff first, and THEN if you really want to do this, let’s go get it.

The Big 3 questions for clarity

If you still can’t work out whether you’re on the right path, there are 3 questions you need to ask yourself before you board a train to Vision Board Central.

Are you already into vision boards?

Made a vision board and seen the results for yourself, or helped others build vision boards and watched transformations happen?

If it’s yes, then get on that train, you’re heading in the right direction.

Do you teach and mentor people on a particular topic already?

If you’re helping or mentoring people and push them forward, and want to continue doing that with vision boards, this makes perfect sense.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Is this something you’ve been thinking about for a while?

Have you been toying with the idea of hosting vision board parties but not yet taken the final step into ‘doing’?

It’s time to take action and get on board.

Make space for your passion and true vision

If you’ve never made a vision board, attended an event, mentored, or helped anyone, you’re entering the danger zone.

Ask yourself why you want to invest in this type of business and what you hope to gain.

It’s a hard conversation to have, and I want you to think about whether you REALLY want to do this work.

Be honest.

If it’s a no, that’s OK.

Free yourself from this moment and pursue something that actually matters to you.

If you’ve got problems to fix, do that first and then come back to vision boards.

Once you do, you’ll have space for your true ‘why’ to shine through and pursue a business that fills your soul.

Master Success with this 4-step Mindset Shift

You want to host vision board parties, but have you actually DONE anything about it?

If the answer’s ‘no’, the next question is:

‘Do you believe yourself when you say you’re going to do something?’

Be very honest, and take time with it, because the secret to your success lies in the difference between ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

For all those who whispered ‘no’, I’ve been there, you are SO not alone.

That’s why I’m going to share the MINDSET SHIFT that took me from ‘thinking’ about a vision board workshop to actually ‘doing’ it.

Before I let you in on the 4-step process, here’s a little context.

If you don’t believe, you won’t succeed

Years ago, while working as a waitress, freelancer, and babysitter, I set up a card-making business on Etsy.

I ordered a bunch of stuff, hired someone to make a logo, bought all the tools, did one card-making workshop, and spent $400.

“Wow, how many cards did you sell?”

ZERO (although I made half of a really good card at the workshop).

With all my other jobs, I had no real time to invest in a new business.

Flash forward to Thrive Lounge.

I went BIG on creating systems, processes, and schedules that would make sure I had time to invest in Thrive Lounge.

I showed up before work every day like clockwork and was able to concentrate on my Blog and book and set up my course.

Then I blocked out Sundays to create videos and content.

Now I have multiple courses, support my students, and host events.

The BIG difference?

I believed I had a story to share, that I was meant to create vision board workshops, and they are needed in this world.

And I BELIEVED MYSELF when I said it.

If you want to host vision board parties (or set up any kind of business), and truly BELIEVE you are going to make it happen, here are the 4 priorities to keep the momentum going.

Believe what you tell yourself

To host a successful workshop, you’ve got to show up confident.

This confidence needs to be built up from day one.

You have to believe that you already ARE that successful host, act accordingly, ‘walk the walk’ and ‘talk the talk’.

People have to feel that confident energy coming off you and BELIEVE in what you are doing, whether it’s on social media, when reaching out to your audience to attend events, or hiring speakers.

Once you believe, move on to the next step.

Master your mindset

Fears are inevitably going to creep in, make you question yourself, and try to break that confidence you’re building.

“Can I actually do it, will people pay this much, what if no one comes?”

Close the door on these fears and throw away the key.

It is YOUR time to shine, and fear has no business being there.

But what if an event that flops?

You stand tall and bank that teachable moment for what NOT to do next time around.

Master your mindset to believe you’ve got this, and no matter what gets thrown at you, or if fear manages to squeeze out from under the door, you know you’ll get through it.

Take the actions that matter

When you believe yourself, stay out of the failure mind traps, you’re going to show up like you’re already that success.

Now it’s time to capitalize on your mindset and take ACTION.

What are the things that ‘Successful You’ do?

THIS is what you need to be focusing on, whether it’s social media, emails, blogs, podcasts, or videos.

The most important thing is to make sure these actions MATTER and are the stepping stones to vision board party success.

Be consistent and show up for yourself

Consistency means showing up day after day after day.

Even if there’s a setback or a bad day, the next time the sun comes up you’re at it again, no excuses.

No matter what the adverts say, you don’t get 10k followers overnight!

Growing an audience and community takes strategy, time, effort, and consistent quality content.

People need time to get to know you, trust in you and what you’re selling before they are willing to hand over their credit cards.

If someone’s going to come to your vision board workshop, they need to know they can count on you before, during, and after.

To be and stay successful, you’ve got to be consistent for the business and your audience.

Success is in reach, take action today

Every day that you wake up and do the work, you’re ‘voting’ for the person you want to be.

The more that you do it, the more you become that person, and you’re showing up as a success and your dreams are becoming a reality.

Believe in yourself, master your mindset, take the actions that matter, and be consistent.

You’re literally creating your future and it all starts with YOU believing you.

The 4 vision board workshop formats that always deliver

The 4 vision board workshop formats that always deliver.png

Does the idea of hosting a vision board workshop light a fire in your soul, but you’re still in the dark when it comes to the logistics?

“How long should my event be?”

“How many activities do I include?”

“What’s the best format to help my attendees reach their goals?”

I get asked these questions all the time by my students.

Choosing the right vision board workshop format means knowing the transformation you want your audience to walk away with and what YOU are prepared to invest into the workshop.

But before you go down the rabbit hole of trying to DIY a format in the dark, read on!

Today I’m answering ALL the questions and laying out the 4 types of vision board workshops, so you can choose which is right for you.

The ‘Teaser’: A Great Place to Start

Essentially a quick or beginner workshop, the Teaser is a great way to give your intended audience a taste of what is to come.

Think of it like the chips and salsa you get handed with the menu when you sit down at your favorite Mexican spot. Or if you’re at a fancy restaurant, the ‘hors d'oeuvre’!

Those smokey, crunchy chips and that fresh, fragrant salsa really get your taste buds going.

If you like what you taste, I’ll bet you can’t wait for your actual meal.

The Teaser is usually under 90 minutes and a way to showcase your teaching style and personality.

The audience should walk away knowing who you are, your specialty, and the kind of transformation they can expect from working with you.

The goal is to have them sign up for your full coaching session or training before they walk out the door.

The ‘Full Workshop’: Where Vision Boards are Made

If the Teaser is the hors d'oeuvre, a Full Workshop is the appetizer.

It will open the appetite, take the edge off your hunger, but you’ll likely be left wanting more.

With this format, you’re expanding on the elements of the teaser, deep-diving into goal setting and vision clarity, and getting started on the visions boards themselves.

There are no hard and fast rules, but a Full Workshop generally lasts around 2-4 hours with more coaching and self-exploration.

You should include ice breakers, activities to help start the self-exploration journey, and either get people started on a vision board or even creating their own vision board workshop.

A Full Workshop is far more hands-on, you can get fun and creative with it, and there’s time for your audience to dig deep and also make connections.

The ‘Retreat’: An Unplugged Getaway

Taking people away from the day-to-day, getting them to create time and space for themselves, and watching life-altering transformations happen is about as rewarding as it can get.

I think of this as the main course. Done right, it’s a game-changer.

A Retreat is a chance for people to escape life’s everyday demands and mental clutter, devote 100% of their focus on themselves, and really listen to that inner voice.

I call it the ‘unplugged getaway’, and it’s one of my favorites.

When your guests are in this mindset, you can go so much deeper, and the transformations are that much more powerful.

A Retreat can be anywhere from 1 to 5 days and can incorporate a whole host of other activities, like yoga, hikes, and meditation.

You can play around with the content and length but ensure there is time for guests to finish their vision boards.

Just make sure to include whatever it takes to help guests switch off so they can switch on to what matters and let that all-important transformation happen.

The ‘Bonus Experience’: Turn Learning Into Reality

You’re already offering your clients a specialized coaching service, actively helping them on their life’s journey, but you’re looking to take it to the next level.

I think of this as the dessert that puts the icing on the cake of a great meal.

I have a lot of coaches come into my programs looking to up-level their vision board workshops.

They want to help clients take everything they’ve learned and put it into action to move forward with their dreams.

Say you’re a financial coach who’s helped clients fix their money problems.

By adding a vision board experience, you can help them envision what life will look like now that their money issues are a thing of the past.

I even had a photographer wanting to add a vision board element to their course to help clients visualize their future art and how they would put it out into the world.

The Bonus Experience is an awesome tool for business owners and coaches to take their clients one step further on their self-discovery journeys.

Make A Transformative Difference to Someone’s Life

Whatever your end goal for your vision board workshop, or the appetite of your intended audience, there’s a format to suit. Let’s do a quick recap:

  • The ‘Teaser’ will provide a mini-mindset-shift and showcase how you’re capable of helping your audience reach a full transformation.

  • The ‘Full Workshop’ gets your audience big results towards their transformative journey.

  • The ‘Retreat’ unplugs from the day-to-day and takes them on a deeper discovery.

  • The ‘Bonus Experience’ adds an extra life-changing layer to the service you’re already offering.

These 4 amazing experiences will ensure your audience will walk away with a transformation, and every transformation, big or small, is a step closer to making someone’s dreams come true.
